There are two famous wild swimming places near to Llanwrtyd Wells: The Washpool and Wolf's Leap
The Washpool (SN: 85966 49940) is 3 miles from the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells. Take the Abergwesyn road and you will see the Washpool signposted on the right-hand side of the road. It's a picnic site and the pool is used by locals and visitors. Go to the Bird Watching Guide page to see some of the birds that can be spotted on the River Irfon.
Wolf's Leap (SN: 84610 54011) can be found in the Abergwesyn valley. Take the turn to Tregaron at the Pentwyn crossroads. This wild beauty spot has a series of deep pools about 10m across and 3m deep. This Legend has it that the last wolf leaped here to escape the Drovers who used the road to drive their cattle through the valley to the Grouse Inn at Abergwesyn.
